Training end users: what are my options?

Last month, I had the unique opportunity to work with one of our customers, Discovery Benefits, as the organization upgraded to OnBase 16 and moved from using the Thick Client to the Unity Client. This longtime customer had deployed our solution throughout the organization to hundreds of users, and the change to the Unity Client was daunting. To make sure they got it right, they reached out to us to determine what options were out there for educating their end users.

Working together, we created a curriculum that worked for their end users, delivering successful training to hundreds of people in jam-packed sessions over two days. It is possible the rumors of donuts, candy and prizes were somewhat responsible for the crowds, but I prefer to believe it was pure OnBase excitement!

This experience got me thinking: Do all our customers know that we can help them train their OnBase end users?

Free training

The first option I always bring up to customers is the free End User Training we offer. These eLearning courses range from OnBase 12 to OnBase 16 and are available for the Web Client, OnBase Client and Unity Client.

The courses guide OnBase end users through common tasks and cover topics such as:

  • Document retrieval
  • Cross references
  • Custom queries
  • Personal pages
  • Deleting and re-ordering pages

…and many more. Did I mention the courses are free?

Have a large client population you need to train?

While individual end users always have the ability to stream the comprehensive end user training courses from our website, organizations may alternatively select a representative to download, install and administer that same course material locally, as part of their existing training programs.

Need customized training?

End user training can be delivered by a Hyland trainer (in person or online), by a trainer on the customer’s team or by a combination of the two.
