The top 5 #AskBrendaKirk questions and answers
Last week I had the opportunity to join Hyland, creator of OnBase, Vice President of Strategy, Brenda Kirk, for an hour-long social media chat on our Facebook page. This is the fourth “Ask Me Anything” styled chat we’ve hosted for our customers, partners, employees, prospects and the media. As a social media professional, I think it’s amazing our executives are open to reaching people in new and exciting ways.
Did you miss our chat live last week? I’ve recapped the top five Q&As from #AskBrendaKirk:
Kim U.: How do you think new file share offerings will impact your business?
Brenda: We’re hoping it impacts us very positively! We not only see the need, we felt it here at Hyland, so much so that we launched ShareBase, our own file sync and share offering, at our Annual Conference last fall. Check it out, it’s awesome: ShareBase.com.
Tiffany S.: What is your favorite business book, and why?
Brenda: “Lean In” by Sheryl Sandberg – in part because she’s brutally honest. A couple examples include Chapter one’s parking problem and “Project Whale.”
Nassera S.: What do you think is the key for a woman to be a success in the business world?
Brenda: To be successful, you must be willing to learn – and willing to teach what you learn to others. In technology, a world that changes so quickly, mastery of information is only relevant for a short time. It’s essential to seek out information and determine what is fleeting and what is not. You need to make sure it’s relevant and valuable. I think this is true for anyone, regardless of whether you’re a man or a woman!
Niki L.: What’s your favorite Hyland perk?
Brenda: It always was the CEC (that’s our name for our onsite child enrichment center). Although my children have outgrown it, it remains one of the many perks I think makes Hyland an amazing place to work. Being close to your young children while being productive at work really is tough to beat.
Sam J.: Will the Web Client be enhanced with more Unity features?
Brenda: We are working on a framework, on top of which we will build reseller and customer re-usable components that will be the basis of our next generation Web Client. This more fully featured Web Client will run across multiple browsers and provide richer capabilities on the Mac. These are all in development or on deck.
And one more bonus question just for fun:
Marin (Brenda’s daughter): Hi! Can I drive down to the state championship game with my friends tomorrow? I’ll go the speed limit!
Brenda: Sure! As long as I can I ride shotgun. <3 #ILoveBeingAMom
I have to give Marin credit! I know I would have asked the same question.
Thanks to everyone who participated in our social media chat! Head over to our Facebook page to read the rest of the questions and answers.
