Hyland named to Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for BPM-Platform-Based Case Management Frameworks

Man with coding in background

At Hyland, creator of OnBase, we have a thing for platforms. You might even say we’re platform-obsessed – and for good reason. We pride ourselves on offering a single enterprise information platform for managing content, processes and cases. OnBase equips customers from industries across the globe to configure solutions tailored to meet their unique requirements and business problems – all without the need for extensive custom development.

And organizations are building amazing things on the OnBase platform – from departmental applications to enterprise solutions that touch each and every person within their four walls and beyond.

This flexibility is appreciated by our customers and recognized by industry analysts. It’s the reason why we can support so many types of companies – from higher education institutions to health systems to insurance providers and even large manufacturers. And it’s one of the reasons why Gartner named us to its report that focuses specifically on flexible case management frameworks.

Case management software capabilities to fit your needs

Case management capabilities are one especially growing area of the OnBase platform – equipping organizations to create solutions that manage unpredictable, knowledge-driven work. This includes the ability to centralize and manage all data and documents surrounding a case, while leveraging other capabilities of the platform: the ability to embed key content, process automation and business rules behind the scenes while connecting with other critical systems to pull and surface information.

As with any OnBase solution, organizations aren’t limited to only certain uses when it comes to case management applications – from managing service requests to handling investigations to resolving disputes, the sky really is the limit.

And while this is our mantra, we recognize and embrace that for some, a narrower, more prescribed case management approach might better fit the bill. This is echoed in an emerging market trend toward at least partially prebuilt applications that provide organizations with a starting point or blueprint for a solution.

An emerging market for frameworks

Industry analyst firm Gartner has even started to evaluate vendors based on their ability to meet this emerging need via business process management (BPM) platform-based case management frameworks – or “configurable ‘apps’ designed to help application leaders accelerate the delivery of unique and flexible case management solutions.”

OnBase was recently recognized among the leading vendors in this emerging market space in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for BPM-Platform-Based Case Management Frameworks.* This is the second year for the report, and the second consecutive year Gartner included OnBase. We’re proud to be named among just 13 vendors recognized for offering case management frameworks, after being subjected to a rigorous evaluation methodology that included criteria such as ability to execute and completeness of vision.

In addition to a platform that’s provided the innovative ground for solutions as diverse as contractor onboarding, contract request management and student relationship management, OnBase provides case management frameworks that take easy and fast configuration of the platform to a whole new level.

These include our Checklists for Process Control offering, a framework that enables organizations like WESTMED Practice Partners to quickly create dynamic checklist applications that empower knowledge workers in areas like IT help desks and customer service. Configuring these applications on a common framework enables WESTMED to achieve a more systemic view of the status of interdependent tasks and activities that individuals, teams and departments are performing.

Platform or preconfigured application – or both?

When it comes to case management, the route you take to create your applications really depends on your business requirements and strategic vision. And the right product should give you utmost freedom to create tailored solutions while also providing the option for preconfigured applications or frameworks when required.

OnBase is one product – rather than a cobbled together stack of separate offerings – that offers a flexible, low-code platform for application configuration and reusable case management frameworks on top of that platform, meeting a range of business needs.

While we’re excited to make Gartner’s prestigious list, we’re also excited that organizations are finding value by embracing a wide range of innovative case management solutions.
