Insurance and security part 3: Evolving regulations from a global perspective

In part 3 of our insurance and security video series, Mark Breading, partner at Strategy Meets Action, and Charlie Hanna, director of Hyland’s Domestic Insurance Solutions Group, discuss the changing world of insurance regulations from a global perspective – including the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

“The privacy of personal data goes beyond GDPR because there are many other countries with regulations on how to use that data,” said Breading. “It’s causing insurers around the world to rethink what information they really need, how they get the right authorizations to collect it, how long they hold it, when they archive it, and how they comply with regulations in each country.”

“It’s not only about the information that you keep, it’s also about what you shouldn’t keep,” noted Hanna. “So the proper handling, control, and security around that information plays a big part.”
