“Where” it’s at this summer – time for the Esri UC

Earlier this year, I wrote about the power of Esri GIS solutions. Next week, I’m standing at the OnBase by Hyland booth at the 2017 Esri User Conference. This conference is where it’s at for GIS professionals and enthusiasts like myself because, as Esri says, they are “the Science of Where.”

Every attendee is interested in the latest tools from Esri and wants to bring back valuable new options for their organizations. Thanks to the Esri UC 2017 exhibit hall, you are presented with many ways to do just that.

So, what if you love your GIS solutions, but want to make them even more powerful?

Well, that’s why Hyland attends the biggest GIS event in the world. OnBase is an enterprise content management (ECM) platform that allows government to eliminate paper, speed processes and manage information.

Content: the “what” of government

Government is a content-driven sector and processes begin and end with paper or a digital version of paper. Government manages the records that societal order relies on, and that content is the “what” of government, the basis for decisions on individual interactions to program – and even governmental – levels and missions.

So, using the “Science of Where,” policy decisions and program planning for the future can be combined with the “What” of government. The processes that define our relationships, the content we create and collect and the decisions we make as we govern. The variability of each interaction can make program delivery an art form. That activity, with all its variation, is manageable or improved by the use of ECM.

With a central repository, automation, case management systems and more, ECM is an essential platform that builds smart communities by making government processes efficient and effective at the transactional level.

Integrating Esri and ECM

Organizations also recognize the value of Esri and ECM together, because when you connect the “Science of Where” to the “Art of What,” you connect the content that drives your business processes with the tools Esri announces each year at the UC. This allows you to use content as additional data layers for your GIS decision tools AND have the process efficiency that ECM brings to organizations.

With ECM, you extend and magnify the transformation you start with Esri’s platform.

Now, with OnBase, users that never access maps and GIS solutions can bring your work into OnBase for reporting and other tasks. That way, you can leverage the datasets that drive your maps to pre-populate forms – eliminating manual data entry and empowering field workers. With the power of each platform, your organization can make better decisions and improve its internal efficiency.
