The power of listening at #CommunityLIVE

CommunityLIVE 2015 Ed McQuiston Customers

Listen.

It’s a powerful word, isn’t it? Sitting there, by itself, it demands attention. It sets expectations. It shows you that words have meaning. And influence. But in the business world, words are nothing if you don’t have a plan of action.

So here’s a four-step plan to use the power of listening to help your organization become more agile, efficient and effective.

Step 1: Listening

When you listen, you let the person speaking know you understand them. In the business world, when we listen, and then acknowledge what we just heard, it develops trust and helps our customers build self-awareness.

Listening to each other is the key to getting to the root of business issues. When we all agree on the specific issue or issues we’re trying to solve, we can plan effectively.

Step 2: Taking action

Here at Hyland, we listen. That’s what sets us apart – although our passion and ability to quickly bring incredible solutions to market is impressive as well. We take our customer suggestions very seriously, because we exist to help them solve their business issues.

So our annual release includes hundreds – sometimes thousands – of software change requests from our customers. We listen. And when a request makes sense, we take action and incorporate it into our releases.

When I listen to the executives and business leaders I speak with on a daily basis, many are concerned about software sprawl and information silos. Some of these people tell me their organizations are using thousands of different applications to get work done every day, with information hidden in corners or even inaccessible. I hear that too many employees can’t find the valuable information they need, when they need it.

That’s why our product suite has evolved over the last 25 years to become a single enterprise information platform that delivers huge benefits in its simplicity:

  • One architecture
  • One database
  • One content repository
  • One application to upgrade
  • One point of integration
  • One system to secure

When I hear leaders tell me how their organizations have lost control of software systems and applications, I want to take action. Right away. We’ve been listening, hearing this issue time and time again.

And because we hear you, we have an industry-leading solution.

Step 3: Attending CommunityLIVE

Solving the issues that businesses are experiencing is the value of the listening we do on a daily basis. And we’re about to do it – face-to-face – with thousands of customers and partners. CommunityLIVE, our annual end-user event, is the perfect opportunity for you to make your voice heard by everyone here at Hyland, from developers to executives.

This is your chance. We’ll be there, ready to listen to you. Come and tell us what enterprise information issues your organization needs to overcome. We’ll help you put together a plan.

Step 4: Connecting customers so they can talk, listen and learn

But it goes further than that. One of the greatest values of the conference is the opportunity for customers to listen to each other. Some of the people who will be in attendance have been using our enterprise information platform for a quarter of a century to unite critical systems and better manage their content, processes and cases.

This is your chance to talk to each other. To listen to each other. To engage in conversations about how to tackle enterprise-wide business issues.

Over the years, our solutions have helped healthcare organizations achieve HIMSS Stage 7, financial institutions improve service, insurance agencies process claims faster, governments serve constituents better and higher education institutions improve enrollment and student services. We’ve all learned a lot, and this is our best time to share it.

I can’t wait for CommunityLIVE, but I’m not alone. Many customers and prospects have already registered. And close to 300 Hylanders have already finished preparing their sessions and are packing their bags.

We’re less than two weeks away, so don’t wait. Register today for the world’s best enterprise content management technology conference!
