‘Top Workplaces’ recognition for a top notch culture
Earlier, news hit that Hyland, creator of OnBase, was named on two influential lists: the Northeast Ohio Top Workplaces (No. 1 ranking!) and as one of FORTUNE Magazine’s 100 Best Places to Work for Millennials.
Although we’ve made the Northeast Ohio Top Workplaces list in the past, this is the first year we were ranked No. 1. It is also the first year for Fortune’s Best Workplaces for Millennials. We’re so proud to be included on these lists, especially since both inclusions were based solely on survey results from our employees.
We’re also proud of what these recognitions mean to our local community.
Northeast Ohio is buzzing with exciting events and new civic developments. We even took a trip to the NBA Finals. For our employee culture to be, in some small way, a part of that buzz and share in the continued growth and personal achievement of our hometown is an honor. We hope we do our neighbors proud.
Keeping your culture strong as you grow and expand
Hyland is in the middle of a tremendous growth spurt. We hired nearly 1,000 people in the last five years and plan to hire 400 more this year alone.
You can only imagine the challenge of maintaining a unique and very personal culture as everything else around you changes and evolves. We’d be remiss if we weren’t planning on how this growth will impact our culture and tradition.
But change is necessary. It’s what allows you to grow.
We’ve found that one of the best ways to embrace change is to keep open a continuous communication loop with our employees. We gather feedback and suggestions directly from Hylanders to understand which programs and amenities they use, which are less popular and what they would like to see in the future.
This approach allows us to evolve amenities in step with employee needs. It’s why we introduced a Wellness Center for employees and their families. One that includes an onsite nurse practitioner, physical therapist, health coach and dietitian.
It also allows us to sunset programs that have lost their appeal, may be under-utilized or never got off the ground in the first place.
In many ways, it’s this change that allows our culture to stay the same.
